Whatever you do.....

Sometimes the Lord will just lay a verse on your heart and hit replay until you finally "get it" and start really living it.

This happened to me on Monday.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men....."
Colossians 3:23

This is the verse.

As I had a conversation with a friend about her marriage, I heard Him speak this verse into my spirit, again.

As I fed 5 kids at my table last night, exhausted from the days activities, I heard Him speak it to my heart again.

When supper was finished and I was scrubbing the seemingly endless dish load, I heard this verse again.

Suddenly, dish rag in hand, I stopped in my tracks.

Bubbles from the soapy water were covering my arms, and I began to "get it".

My life is not my own. It never was. It never will be.

It's His...The Lord's.

All that I do is for Him. Or at least it should be.

I smiled from ear to ear as the realization of this verse hit my heart like a thud.

This is how my life shall be lived. From now until I face Jesus face to face.

Although I have heard, memorized, and read that verse hundreds of times over the last couple of years....today, I got it.

Do everything unto Him in...

  • my marriage
  • my parenting
  • serving others
  • my finances
  • my chores
  • my conversations
  • obedience
  • submission
  • loving others
  • forgiving others. hello.
What is it that you need to do as unto Him and not for mere men?

Maybe, this should be our new year's resolution...Do everything, yes everything, unto Him.

If we start this in our very own little homes...imagine how our world would change.

Oh, and did I fail to read you the rest of this scripture? Get ready for this...

"Whatever you do , work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord and not for men, since you know that you will receive and inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

Umm. Hello.

My heart is resolved to live out this verse. Not just this year, but every year.

Won't you join me?

getting it,
