Prayer Requests and Praises - February

Prayer Requests and Praises for the month of February

Please comment so that we can pray specifically for your needs or celebrate the praise of what God has already done in your life.  Either way, we are anxious to lift you up to our Father as He is waiting on us to do just that.

James 5:16

The Message (MSG)
16-18 Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.

  1. So many of you have already been pryaing, but please continue to pray for my husband, Jerry. He is 45 years old and has esphogeal cancer that has spread to lymph nodes & brain. He is undergoing radiation and will begin chemo in about two weeks. Suruvival rates are not good, but we belive in a big God that can heal him if it's within His will. Please pray for our business as he is the owner and key person that makes things happen and please pray for our kids, who are 18, 16, & 10. They have endured the losses of two grandparents and their little sister already. Thank you!

Dear Pepper, please know I am praying for you, your husband, and your children. I think about you often. "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:7 I pray that His presence is with you so strongly that you feel him night and day, morning and night, and in each moment that the enemy tries to weigh you down. May you be filled only with His hope, His strength, His peace, His might, and His power over your family. In Jesus name, amen. Love, Sarah

    5. Thank You, LORD, for Your love and Your mercy! Thank You, LORD, for Your commandment to love You with all our heart, soul, mind and to love our neighbor as ourself. This is demonstrated so beautifully here as these gather on this page to pray for Pepper...as themselves...together, we are ONE! We cry out for Your Mighty Power and Glory in this whole circumstance! We curse the cancer to the root and command it to die...in Jesus' Name! We speak to all the seed that it has dropped...all that has moved throughout Jerry's body...and we command it all to die... in Jesus' Name! We thank You, LORD, that You have all authority and all power here...we can't add one cubit...but You can! We know that Your will is good in our lives!! Your Word says so!!! We thank You that Jerry is invincible until You take him home...just as we all are! We commit ourselves...to You, and to Your cause and Your purpose, LORD! Without You, we can do nothing...and with You we can do all things! Fear...you must go!!! We fear only God...and that is the beginning of knowledge! Thanks for Your hope in us LORD!! Thank You for Your Faith in us!! And, Thank You, LORD, for Your Grace and Peace!!! Woo Hoo! Father!!! I get excited when we stand together and pray!! Glory to Your Name...and for Your sake!!! Amen and Amen

Fellow Shine sisters! Prayer needed for strength and guidance in my marriage. I have been married 14 1/2 years. We have 2 children 7 and 11yrs old. I thought my husband was a believer at heart. He does not go to church with us. All our years have been spent in a pattern. Act like all is ok and live life then all comes to a head b/c each others needs aren't met. All he says he needs from me is sex. He believes this is the most important part of marriage. I fight for our family, faith, and peace in our home. Most everything in our home is tense. How he speaks to the kids and to me most of the time is harsh. We never know what to expect. We have been to counseling, church marriage conferences etc to all which he believes and tells me that I am not doing my part. Maybe I am I not, but it is truly HARD to be a christian wife when I am put down, fussed at for forgeting grocery items, angry and harsh for days on end when he doesn't have his physical needs met! etc. Lately things came to a head when he has continually insisted on putting my 7 year old in the car w/o a carseat and allowed our 11 yr old to sit in the front seat ( with an airbag). His angry ways are the law. He states he is the head of this home. How? Not emotionally or spiritually. He puts down my beliefs and when I tried to be more involved at church, he accused me of having an affair with someone there. Absurd! He took phone records from our phones, checked emails and FB, all for nothing. There is also pornography in our home ( hidden from the children of course) He believes there is nothing wrong with it and occasionally insists on it ( which i refuse and he gets angry) He also lately has stated over and over that the only law is the Ten Commandments and that the bible is NOT Gods Word, that is the the word of man!!! All opinions of man he states.
I have been faithful considering the circumstances. The person that it has caused me to become is a challenge. Part of me feels how long does one have to take verbal abuse for myself and my children. Is it better to keep them in this situation? He does have good days and he truly loves his children, but is no example. He works at his job and around our home, watches TV at length and plays Xbox everyday!! I take our children to most all activites and vacations by myself. I want them to be part of this world and learn how God would have them interact and be servants outside of our home. I know I have rambled - It is hard to put 14 years in one paragraph. I have read over and over 1 Corinthians 7: 13-14 " And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife.." How far do you take this. Finicially I have always made more. He has never seen a need to be financially supportive. He has not worked steady for most of marriage until 6 years ago I gave him an ultimatum and he has kept this job. He has been suspended once and went on disability twice for short periods. He has never kept a job this long due to his temper. It has always been the other persons fault. I could go on and on, but just know that it is physically, mentally and emotionally taken a toll on me ( mostly) and my children. I see tham reacting the way their father does to each other and that scares me that they may carry on the behaviors into their adult lives. PLEASE PRAY that God will continue to speak to me and that my heart is open to hear his answer. I have been praying this for years!!!! Truly my heart feels I must do something drastic, but wish I had a sign from God that he approves. Even my husbands family and his own mother tell me that they love me and understand if I need to leave. WOW!!
Again- sorry so lengthy. Prayers and any advice appreciated.

    HEAVY HEART!!!

OH, heavy heart! My heart is heavy for you! Please keep seeing the Lord. It is hard when we have others telling us what we should do, but His way is not the worlds ways. I have had to learn this in my own marriage. We must choose to seek His will for our marriage and our lives in every circumstance. Have you sought out help from your church, or other godly women? Marriage is sacred to the Lord, and He wants us to protect it and nurture it. I KNOW for a fact it is hard when our spouses are not willing....but we must make every effort. Please look into Power of a Praying Wife by stormie omartian. I also have other books to recommend if interested, I just dont want to overwhelm you.:)Above anything else, stay in His Word at all times. Filter out the rest of the stuff trying to make it's way into your mind. Praying for you heavy heart!!!! You are not in this alone!

Totally understand your situation Anon, have lived with verbal abuse for much longer, as he has aged, there are less blow ups. However, the damage caused me to be a nervous wreck and low self-esteem. After saying all of that my message is that I feel your pain, and have endured because God has loved me so much all my life, and I grew up with a strong foundation of faith. I will definitely pray for you and those precious children. Did I mention that I have and could never earn or deserve God's mercy. Being a child from divorce parents at a young age, the last thing I ever wanted was to do the same thing to my children. Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding." God supplied more than my needs as I know He has yours. I could never tell you what is best for you, but I will seek the Lord to give you the peace and answers to do His will. Love you HEAVY HEART!

Seeking prayer for my family, there are too many issues to list. However, this prayer request is not detailed, but it fits each one of you that read and prayers for our Shine group. The devil is at work to destroy all that is good, He loves strife, division, greed, lazy, envy, hatred, distraction of things over family time. Agree with me in prayer that if, we could focus on the problems in our very family..that would witness to others of just how great God is, and how faithful He is, loving, kind, compassionate, consistent, and if we believe Him and study His word that will spread like a wild fire. 2 Peter 1:2 "May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord." Sisters, seek the unbelievers in your family, the lost, the addicted, the estranged, the unlovable and serve up God's promises of eternal love and peace.
