Saturday SHINE & Weekday Give-away.....

Happy Saturday morning, SHINE girls!

If you haven't had a chance to read this week, now is the time to catch up! ;-)

Okay, it is Saturday, so I will be quick! I have two things for you....

First, in keeping with our "be intentional" challenge this week, you have a challenge for the weekend! Yay!

Don't worry, it's a FUN challenge!

Your Saturday challenge today is:

Give a gift to someone! Anything! It can be a handmade card, some cookies, your time, your talents...be creative!

Today is Lem's birthday, so this will be easy for us! :-)

It feels good to give! You will make someone feel so special and loved!

Okay, secondly....we have a SHINE give-away! I thought this would be the PERFECT time to announce it since we are being intentional about GIVING today!

This gift was donated by our very own SHINE girl, Elan Crowe! I won't tell you what the gift is, but it goes along very well for Father's Day coming up! It is a gift for your whole family to enjoy! A fun family gift!

The drawing will be soon, so that I can get it to you in time for next weekend.

Tell us under this post what makes YOUR Father a good daddy! If you would rather talk about your husband, or another father figure in your life, that is great too! Just tell us what makes this man so special to YOU!

Make sure to leave your name in your comment! If you have trouble leaving a comment, please email me at shinegirlsshine@gmail.com and I will post your comment for you!

Happy Saturday, SHINE girls!

Go, GIVE!

celebrating my Lem today,

jill

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
-Luke 6:38

My Daddy loves me unconditionally! I am an only child and I have always felt so special and loved. Also, my husband Chris is the best Dad to our children! We have two boys, and he plays sports with them, plays with them, and takes them to Falcons games!! It makes my heart melt to see him be a daddy!!! Thank you, Jilly, for letting me talk about my two favorite men!! Love, Erin M.

  2. okay -- After reading this I had a momentary panic that this weekend was Father's Day weekend. But I think it's next Sunday. At least I hope so. I think a good dad is just there. He makes time to be there -- not always playing golf or doing stuff with his friends. Not always having the wife take the kids to church or to the school functions.

  3. My daddy and I are so similar so when I was younger we butted heads a lot and I was beyond stubborn. I don't remember those arguments but what I do remember is every night he would read the Bible to me and my brother and we'd pray together. I always saw Him in the word. So when I started dating I knew I wanted a spiritual leader like my daddy. We are now very close. My husband and I seek Godly advice from he and my mom still. Love my sweet daddy.

  5. My dad is the most Godly man I know! His love is unconditional and his mercy is full. He is the greatest protector and desires for Christ to show through him daily. He never pushes his thoughts or desires onto anyone unless asked, he wants to meet the needs of others 24/7 through the love of Jesus. He is the greatest man I know & I love him dearly. I am so grateful that God chose to give him to me as my earthly father.

Oh, Jill I'm sure you will hear about this wonderful Daddy from Leslie, but I can't pass up an opportunity to talk about MY LEM Clark! He shows me God's sweet unconditional love every minute of every day! In 38+ years of marriage I have never doubted his love and devotion. He is my greatest cheerleader, president of my fan club, and never ever complains or makes me feel bad!!! His children adore him, too! I love him more than anything except Jesus, and he feels the same way about me!! Thanx for letting me say so!!! Blessings! Sandy Clark

Just the fact that my Dad did take the time to talk to me really made a difference. I know that some dad's retreated to "their" relaxing place and really paid the children no attention! It was all up to the mom's! ~Kelly Sewell

  10. No one makes me feel like my daddy does. I love to look at his face and see me for a second the way he sees me. He loves me so much and unconditionally and it's a love that I can see, hear, feel and savor. I love you, Daddy. :)

My Dad is funny. He has little nicknames for everybody. He taught me many great life lessons and I can depend on him for anything. I was always a Daddy's girl and I guess I still am.

  14. Well I have always been a Daddy's girl! And I love my dad dearly, but the things I love most are that he always allowed me to do things (especially since my mom was a "tad" over protective) :) He taught me how to drive on the highway and in the rain because he knew I would have to do that myself one day. And he trusted me enough to allow me to make a lot of my own choices. And he always told me I could go wherever I wanted, but to remember that Jesus was going too. I still remember these things to this day and hope that I will be able to teach them to my own kids.

  15. My daddy gave me the most amazing compliment by my nickname...He calls me "Pearl" or his "Pearl of Great Price"

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: 46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." Matthew 13:45-46

So you can imagine what kind of man he truly is!

Loved my Daddy! Miss him everyday. Praise God for my wonderful Father in law and my amazing baby daddy (my hubby), they are great role models for my son and demonstrate their faithfulness to God daily.

  17. I'm so thankful for my Dad's unconditional love and value for me. I'll never forget when I 16 I wrecked the family car. I was so afraid to walk in the house and face him, thinking he would be upset with me. But to my surprise, he opened his arms wide, hugged me and said, "it's ok, honey, cars can be replaced but you can't." I have never questioned my Dad's love for me and as a result I have never questioned God's love for me:)

My step-father has been in my life since I was 7 years old. I thank God for Him. He has provided in ways for our family that no one else has. He has and continues to love us all so much. He took me and my two brothers in as his own children and has partnered with my Momma to raise us the best they knew how, and I might add we all turned out alright! I thank God for my Dad- Gary! I love you so much!

My Daddy loves me, my brother and our babies unconditionally! His every wish is our happiness. He has worked hard all of our lives to provide every want and need for us. If it was up to my daddy we would all live in one big house together and he would take care of us all forever!

My Daddy is the hardest working man I know. He will celebrate his 69th birthday this weekend along with Fathers Day and he works doing something constantly! I don't think he will ever retire - haha!!

There is no one anywhere that will ever love me like my Daddy does!

I am thinking about my wonderful Daddy today. I am so sure that he is in that great cloud of witnesses looking down on me that I sometimes talk to him and to my mom. They set a great example of love for family for me and my three wonderful sisters; the best sisters in the world. He loved us girls so and always showed it. Mama was the disciplinarian in our family and Daddy adored her. I always say Daddy was a Teddybear to us girls unless we upset Mama too much and then he was more like a Grizzely. I only remember one of those times but you can be sure that we wanted to please Mama. They had a very close relationship and it was so obvious that they were crazy about each other. They had grown up as nextdoor neighbors. She was his Tootsie and he was hers and everyone knew it. Daddy took us fishing and played games with us. I loved the vacations we took every year and though we never stayed in a fancy place, we loved it. Daddy never had a son, but he had four son-in-laws. He took them into his circle of love and they adored him, too. Daddy and my husband,Bobby, were very close and went hunting together and were in business together at one time. Daddy was crazy about his grandchildren and loved to be with them and to take them places. They all loved Baba and Pawpaw. Daddy was so funny sometimes and we enjoyed him so much. He used to sing "Home on the Range" or "On Top of Old Smokie" and tease Carole and I in the morning to get us up to go to school or put on a Davy Crockett record very loud so we had to get up. He was so much fun and brought a lot of joy into my life. He taught me to drive and the main thing I remember is him telling me not to keep looking in the rearview mirror but to pay attention to the road in front of me and where I was going and not keep looking back. Writing about him makes me miss him so much and I am kind of teary at the moment. I am a blessed woman today because of Mama and Daddy and I have been blessed all my life because of my heritage. Mama and Daddy shared Christ with us and took us to church and had family devotions with us and spent so much personal time with us. We all knew that we were loved unconditionally and that is the best thing of all. I count it a privilege to share my Daddy with you. God bless you, Jill. SHINE Girls is a blessing in my life.
