Reading plan 1/16-1/20...

Reading Plan for 1/16-1/20
  • Monday 1/16: 1 Samuel 11
  • Tuesday 1/17: 1 Samuel 12
  • Wednesday 1/18: 1 Samuel 13
  • Thursday 1/19: 1 Samuel 14
  • Friday 1/20: 1 Samuel 15

Happy Sunday!

We have some fun new things coming up this week on SHINE! Please try and check in daily so that you don't miss a thing!

Some of you are not receiving emails yet...I am really not sure why. Try typing your email in the box at the top right that reads "follow SHINE by email". You will then have to type a captcha that appears. Finally you will receive a verification by email which you will need to click on to activate your subscription to SHINE.

If that still doesn't work, let me know. The safest bet is to just check the blog regularly. Posts and comments are happening throughout the day, and you will want to be a part of those!

Tuesday of this week, we will begin something really fun here on the blog.

I will choose a SHINE girl to spotlight...she will be our SHINE girl of the week. We will have a new SHINE girl of the week that will be revealed every Tuesday.

The cool thing is, the SHINE girl of the week gets to  pick the next SHINE girl to spotlight for the following week. SHINE girls like to lift up our fellow sisters by encouraging them and supporting them.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Doesn't this sound FUN?

So, get ready for a new recipe tomorrow and a SHINE girl of the week to be announced on Tuesday. We will call her "Tuesday's Treasure".

Continue staying in His word daily, my SHINE friends. This is what is making us radiant ...this is what gives us our strength. We need the nourishment from God's word in order to handle what our days bring.

I will post a new prayer/praise request post for this week as well. Please check it daily to lift your fellow SHINE girls up to the Father.

Also, don't forget about our very first SHINE girl party next Sunday, January 22nd from 2-5. See the invitation here... http://shinegirlsshine.blogspot.com/2012/01/its-shine-girl-party.html. If you can come, please RSVP--and bring a friend!

Happy reading sweet SHINE girls!

Keep seeking Him...in all you do.

ready for more 1 Samuel,

jill

Thanks Jill. I was waiting on a place to post this. At my church (Gathering Madison) this morning, Carrie Christie shared the following which was sent to her by a friend. Amazing God? Yes He is. It goes right along our path here on SHINE Girls and I couldn't wait to share. I told Carrie 'the word' would def have a rippling effect.
"REDWOODS- In the Redwood Forest, huge trees grow in groves or families of five. Each tree couldn't withstand the severe storms that blow in from the Pacific Ocean, but they hold hands underground. Each tree's root system is shallow--six feet under the soil reaching 125 feet horizontally--intertwining with the other's roots. Each tree sends its roots out, not down. These gigantic trees root wrap--and when the fierce winds blow, these trees sway and bend, but they don't break. The might of the tree isn't in itself. It is held up by its brothers and sisters.
We should strive to intertwine our hands and our hearts to hold each other up and strengthen one another."
Thank you God that you are so good to us and Your provisions are vast.

Hi. I'm only 12, but I believe and trust the Lord Jesus Christ. I just followed your blog, and I'm hoping it will help me to grow closer to Him, the King of kings. I don't know why I go by Spellgirl, I guess I just like to spell. You can call me Jaime if you want.

Hello all! This is my first SHINE girls post, but I felt moved to write this. Today at church the old testament lesson was 1 Samuel 3 "Speak, God. I'm Ready to Listen". I thought it was interesting when I saw that this week the SHINE girls' readings are in the chapter of Samuel as well. I just joined so I don't know if you guys just recently read the beginning of the chapter of Samuel. Anyway, our preacher spoke about the power of prayer today and do you believe in the power of prayer? Then she told how Samuel's mother Hannah prayed to God to give her a son and that she in turn would give him back to the Lord. After so long of not being able to have children, Hannah became pregnant and had a son she named Samuel. She kept her promise and gave him to the Lord. It felt like our whole sermon today was directed right at me because my husband and I are about to go through the IVF process. Every day for a long time I have prayed to God to please bless us with another child. Today I felt like Hannah praying to God to give us a child. I told my husband when we got home. We are going to have two boys and we are going to name them Samuel and Nathanael. I DO believe in the power of prayer. Please keep us in your prayers as we try to have another child.

Good for you sweet girl! Read away and it will help you grow closer to Him! I'm sure He is thrilled that you choose to do this at an early age. I wish I would have been this dedicated at that age like you are. Praying it blesses you! Love, Sarah Frachiseur

LORD, I thank You for more focus and discussion on your WORD to us in Samuel. I love that this powerful part of the history of Israel...an example to us, LORD, of how one can be in Your plan..and lose his way and become your enemy...I look forward to the completion of this book...and sharing with these precious ladies what the WORD is doing in and with them in this busy time of the Last Days' Church! :) <3
